Restorative Herbal Mornings
An experiential opportunity for contemplation and reflection while engaging your inner-life movements and interacting with herbs in various ways. Each morning will be something different — making herbal teas, creating herbal weavings, enjoying herbal footbaths, and making herbal blessing smudges (just to name a few). These activities are designed to be both creative and reflective.
Preparing your Beds & Tools for the Job
Learn ways to prepare your allotment beds as well as a walkthrough of some basic garden tools to get you started! You’ll learn things around soil testing, preparing your plants, ways to trellis, and some methods of seed plantings.
Child Mental Health Awareness Event
Join Sensory Super Powers for this mental health event as we educate, advocate and support families within Garfield and surrounding communities to increase awareness and show support for children and adolescents who may be struggling with their mental health. This event is free and open to the public
World Labyrinth Day
Please join us at the Sensory Peace Labyrinth at GCF as we “Walk as One at 1” (local time) to create a rolling wave of peaceful energy passing from one time zone to the next as a moving meditation for world peace and celebration of the labyrinth experience.

Food Forests and Perennial Agriculture
This two day intensive will cover both theory and practice of creating a perennial food forest using permaculture design.
Spacing Your Plants
Learn the basic techniques for spacing your garden beds and the best ways to utilize your space! This event is free and open to the public
Botanical Drawing 101: Winter Trees
Joe Frankiewicz, a local naturalist, will lead participants through a guided drawing of a selected tree specimen. During this time, Joe will also point out which features to observe when trying to identify trees in the winter. For the second half of class, participants will explore GCF's site to select a tree to draw on their own (with guidance from Joe as needed).
Rest Affirmations Live Performance
Come join Garfield Community Farm, in collaboration with Onika and Win from Black Dream Escape, for a peaceful evening to celebrate community, music, and the return of spring on March 19th, during evening golden hour (right before sunset).

6th Annual GCF Fall Benefit
GCF will host their 6th Annual Fall Fundraiser Oct 7, and you don’t want to miss it! This year’s event will be at the beautiful Tree Pittsburgh headquarters complete with views of the Allegheny River. It will be an evening of great appetizers from local chefs, drinks, and art as we celebrate the impact of Garfield Community Farm in 2023. Soil Health and Compost in the Permaculture System
How to develop healthy soil through composting and soil restoration. This class is required for our Permaculture Design Certificate Course.
Food Forests and Perennial Agriculture Class @ GCF
June 30 · 9am - July 1 · 6pm EDT $210
This two day intensive course will go deeply into the theory, design, implementation and care of perennial food forests. Participants will receive 18 hours toward their permaculture design certification with this two day class.
Garfield Community Farm Workday
Please join us on Saturday, November 5th at Garfield Community Farm between 9:00 am and noon for an Open Door workday. The goal of this project is to create a space for members of the Open Door and the broader community to connect with creation and the Creator. There will be a variety of projects ranging from planting to construction that will require lots of hands of all skill levels.

Thanks to the generosity of supporters like you, GCF has much to celebrate this year. This summer was our busiest ever, with over 1,000 visitors or participants at the farm. About half of these farm users belong to a marginalized group and most are youth. They enjoy the farm in different ways: many come to volunteer or participate in educational programming, and other use the space to gather, tour, or host a neighborhood event.

Unabridged Tour of Garfield Community Farm
Get the unrushed tour of Garfield Community Farm from Executive Director, Rev. John Creasy. During the tour, Creasy will share about the history of the farm and how the organization and the space has transformed over the past 12 years. Participants will also learn how we incorporate the practices of permaculture in our growing spaces, community spaces, and programming. If you’re interested in learning more about permaculture, more about Garfield Community Farm, or more about both, then this is the tour for you!
