  • Jerome Charles

    Jerome Charles (he/him) artist, organizer & the vandal formerly known as "CHU". Following his arrest, Jerome turned his energy toward making art on found objects, sign painting, muraling, organizing and curating art shows--including "The Glow Up", a show featuring over 40 artists of color--and being a voice for Black Queers in the Pittsburgh art community.   • Petra Floyd

    Petra Floyd (they/she) is a Liberian-American multidisciplinary artist and designer from Philadelphia who lives in Pittsburgh’s Friendship Neighborhood. They are exploring the intersections of sound art and agriculture at Garfield Community Farm by growing hardshell gourds to craft into musical instruments, as part of their ongoing interactive sound project Kalimbrrd. Petra graduated from Carnegie Mellon University School of Art’s MFA program in 2022. They are a 2022-2023 recipient of The Heinz Endowment’s Creative Development and The Pittsburgh Foundation’s Advancing Black Arts in Pittsburgh awards. Petra is also a BLK ART Lab resident at Protohaven and a member of The Greater Pittsburgh Art Council’s Black Arts Action Committee. They chronicle and share their gourd-growing journey in their newsletter and on their website.

  • Stefanie Zito

    Stefanie Zito is a mixed media artist who draws inspiration from ecology. Her work is process-driven and materials-led, exploring ideas of home and the substance of time. She utilizes slow and traditional domestic practices like spinning, stitching, cooking, gardening and weaving– deconstructing and reimagining both natural and commonly discarded materials, exploring what it means to inhabit space and cultivate growth. Stefanie is a graduate of the New York Center for Arts and Media Studies and earned her B.A. in Studio Art from Messiah College. She is also a Certified Permaculture Designer through Garfield Community Farm. In early 2023, Stefanie was awarded a 4 month artist residency with Contemporary Craft. Her works have been included in Fiberart International in Fort Collins Museum of Art in Colorado and Contemporary Craft in Pittsburgh, PA, Tenuous Threads at Atlantic Gallery in New York City, and International Art Textile Biennale in Australia. Stefanie lives in Pittsburgh, PA with her husband and two sons.

  • Tim Engelhardt

    Garfield resident, Tim Engelhardt, has been working as professional artist since 2014. Using his background as a graphic designer and illustrator combined with his passion for abstract art, Tim creates pieces that are dynamic and engaging, integrating a variety of mediums to create layers of transparency, fields of color, and bold marks. Tim maintains a studio practice at Radiant Hall in Homewood. In addition to his studio work, Tim designs and installs murals throughout the region and sometimes,

    beyond. He has had work in group shows with the Pittsburgh Watercolor Society, Pittsburgh Society of Artists, and the Associated Artists of Pittsburgh as well as a solo show at Athiti Studios in 2022 and Borelli Cellars in 2023.

  • Born Shamir Walters

    Born Shamir Walters is a multidisciplinary teaching artist that resides in the Garfield area found working independently in his own neighborhood-based company, Fundamental C.A.M.P. and/or collaborating in integration of arts with STEAM and literary education with Assemble, Waldorf Schools and Arsenal K-8 school, to name a few. His aesthetic is informed by classical Hip-Hop culture, Bauhaus and Pop Art. In his practice his focus has been on using the 4 pillars of Hip-Hop culture to translate Social Emotional Learning to the youth and adults alike. His inspiration for a sum of his recent works has been from the Afro-futurism movement and its writers. Blending imagery from indigenous people of the planet Earth with sci-fi themes is his way to celebrate the past, present, and future technological and cultural advancements of marginalized people of the world. “Our art supplies brighten up environments, not only from hues and tints, but from the smiles our neighbors share in the streets which they represent.” Keep Garfield Safe and beautiful!
